Tankful Tursday !

Hey guys!

It's time for Tankful Tursday! A day where we can rejoice and shout from the rooftops all that we are Tankful for. It's a great alternative to wasting away in a sea despair and darkness! So, who's ready to get ouot of thier funk? I know I am!
Last week was a pretty rough one for me. I found it very hard to find even one thing to be Tankful for. Now I know it should not be that way, but it was. I really don’t know what even made the week the way it was. A cloud of depression hung over me like a storm that would not stop!

As I was contemplating (I love that word, it’s a fancy way of saying, “My brain is working hard”), about how hard things were, a song came on the radio. It was one by a Christian group called “Casting Crowns”. The name of the song is “Praise you in the storm”. What a lovely sentiment, that in the midst of trials and tribulations, you can still reach out and see the good! As hard as it is, sometimes we just need that little push through the gloom toward a new day. Well this song did it for me!

Here is the chorus for the song:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands for
You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

If you’ve never seen or heard this song, click here! (Praise You In The Storm)

So, what am I Tankful for on this Tankful Tursday?

I am thankful for a God you reaches down and wipes those tears away. A God who is right beside me, no matter what. A God who loves me and sees me for who I am.

I am Thankful for my wife and son who are the world to me!

And I am Thankful for the benefits that this surgery has brought to me!

Tankful Tursday !

Every once in a while, God shows us all we have to be Thankful for. It is such that I present this story as my Tankful Tursday post. The video that you will see, will probably bring tears to your eyes, but how truly Tankful are you?

For me, every single breath I take I am thankful for! There but for the grace of God go I! Thanks Bronie for sharing.

Have a wonderful day!

A son asked his father, "Dad, will you do a marathon with me?"

The father, despite having a heart condition, says, "Yes."

They went on to complete the marathon together. The father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.

One day, the son asked his father, "Dad, let's join the Ironman together." To which, his father also said, "Yes."

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. Held every fall in the US city of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, the race encompasses three endurance events; a 2.4 mile (3.8 km) ocean swim in Kailua-Kona Bay, a 112 mile (180 km) bike ride across the Hawaiian lava desert to Hawi and back, and a marathon (26.2 mile, 42 km) along the coast of the Big Island (from Keauhou to Keahole Point to Kailua-Kona); finishing on Ali'i Drive.

Father and son went on to complete the race together.

Tankful Tursday !

It's time for our weekly "attitude of gratitude" festival!

This past week I read a couple of things that really made me feel good about "Tankful Tursday". One was the daily blog I read...Lose Weight Find Life. I've talked about Cathy and her daily ramblings and encouragement before. But the other day, she posted something that was truly tied into "Tankful Tursday". Here is her post:

Ask yourself the question each morning when you begin your day….”What am I grateful for in my life today?”

When you start your day from a place of gratitude your attitude will immediately shift to one of complete thanks for all you have in your life. Are you grateful for all you have? Are you waiting to lose weight to be grateful and live your life fully? Do you feel your life is half empty rather than half full? You get to choose the framework that you want to live from. An attitude of gratitude will bring your closer to the success you are seeking. “Are you grateful? The answer to this question will set the tone for your day.
Believe In Yourself,

Cathy,
Certified Life Coach
Weight Loss Surgery Coach

The other was an email from a very good friend here on the Obesity Help boards. She just wanted to Thank me for this weekly post. She said that if they focused on the positive, instead of the negative, then the day started out much brighter. When I started this post, that was the main purpose...focus on the positive. So, what am I Tankful for:

Life in general and the loving grace of God. When I'm in a bad place mentally/emotionally/physically, some how, I'm always shown that my life is not all that bad. the saying, "There but for the grace of God go I", always comes to mind!

So, what are you Tankful for on this glorious and grand Tursday?

Tankful Tursday ! on Fun Friday!

Good Morning All!

Well, once again it's time for that once a week celebration of thankfulness! So, put on you thinking caps and let's fill this page with gratitude for the things we are Tankful for!

One of the blogs I read daily is..."Lose Weight Find Life". It's written by a woman who had WLS back in 2001. She has since went on to become a certified "Weight Loss Coach". I really enjoy her words of wisdom everyday, it has a way of keeping my thought process on track. Lord knows with out something to keep this train on track, there would be a massive wreck somewhere down the line!

Anyway (as I attempt to get back on track!), Cathy spoke the other day about choices, How we have the choice to do whatever we want to. That really spoke to me! So, this week, I am Thankful for the ability I have to make choices. Now, not all my choices have been good ones, but I am the one you pays the price for that.

I am Thankful that I live in a country that allows me to make choices.

I guess I am most Thankful for a Risen Saviour who forgives me when I make the wrong choices!

So, what are you thankful for on this...Click here to read the original post that started this plethora of praise!

Tankful Tursday !

What am I Tankful for today?

Real simple...my wife and what she means to me!

Nothing can compare to the support she gives me. She is always there when I need help, or even when I don't! She is the one that helps keep me in check when I tend to stray in my thinking. She is the one that helps get things ready when it's time to go. What would I do without her? Probably be a mess! OK, I'm a mess even when we are together!

So, what are you Tankful for on Tankful Tursday?

If this is your first Tankful Tursday, here is a link to the original post that has started it all:

Tankful Tursday !

Well, Tankful Tursday is upon us once again! This last week, I asked all of you great people to list one thing you were thankful for each day. If my calculations are correct (7 x 1=7), you should have 7 things that you are full of gratitude about. Now, from those 7, pick one item that you are grateful for and list it below

My 1 item is my family! After spending the weekend with my Mom and Dad, I realize how supportive my family is. Not only Mom and Dad, but RJ, Beth, my sister…The list could go on and on. So, my one item that I am thankful for on Tankful Tursday is my family!

What about you? Who’s next!

If this is your first foray into Tankful Tursday, here is a link to tell you all about it!

Tankful Tursday !

It's time for our weekly fest of gratefulness! If you missed the original post for "Tankful Tursday", you can get it by clicking here...right here!

Every week we are going to set aside a day to list things we are grateful for! Kind of a filling station for the cup that is darn near empty!

Have you ever heard the saying, "You can't see the forest for the trees"? Well, sometimes we can't see the good because of the bad! We can't see how full our lives are, for the emptiness we sometimes feel!

So today we are going to list things that we are grateful for. If you filled your cup of last week with gratitude, try to think of something different you are Thankful for. If the items you were grateful for last week are still the same, by all means, list 'em!

I am Thankful for:
1) A loving and gracious God who sees beyond my faults, and fulfills my needs!
2) A wife and son who love me no matter what!
3) My health!
4) The ability to get out and walk!

Now, here's our assignment for the next week. Grab a notepad and everyday, list one thing you are Thankful for! Then as the week progresses, we will see that things are going pretty good!

I hope and pray each and everyone of you have a great day!

Tankful Tursday !

Here recently I have noticed several of my friends (both WLS patients and civilians), are suffering from mild to severe depression.

During the night, I know I should be sleeping, my mind was racing. It seems we could go on forever about the things that are wrong with our life. You know what I'm talking about;

1. The price of gas
2. The price of food.
3. The price of anything!!!!!

I believe you get the message. Well I know depression is a serious thing! I have suffered from it for years, and come from a family that knows the side effects all too well! This is where the midnight thought process kicked in. Why don't we spend a few minutes a day being thankful for the good things and report them here once a week!

When Tom Hanks was in college (I think I remember the story being about Tom Hanks), his humanities professor posed the age old question..."Is the glass half full or half empty?" Tom went home and pondered the thought for a weekend. He was hoping to come up with a really philosophical answer that would blow the socks off his professor. After contemplating for several days, he asked his alcoholic father the same question. His Dad answered this way..."It depends on whether you're pouring of drinking".

Folks, I am pouring! The glass is half full! So, here is my proposition. Every Thursday I will start a post entitled-Our objective is to come up with a list of things we are thankful for! Now, it does not have to be weight loss related. But since this is who we are, why not! Here is my list for today:

1) I am THANKFUL for a loving wife and son!
2) I'm THANKFUL for the ability to work and support my family.
3) I'm THANKFUL for my health.
4) I'm THANKFUL for my surgery and what it's done for me!

Now the list does not have to be long. This is just an exercise to help us keep the cup overflowing! to keep us on the positive. If you are suffering from depression, please talk to your Dr. about it. It happens to all of us sometimes!
Oh yeah ~ I'm THANKFUL for you! Have a good day!
